What to do in the event of bereavement?

In the event of a death at home, please call your family doctor first, as they know the medical history of the deceased, or the emergency medical on-call service on 116 117, who will issue you with the death certificate.

In a nursing home or hospital, the doctor responsible will do this so that the death certificate is sent directly to us when the body is transferred.

Inform us in such case so that we can assist you with all further steps.

You can reach us 24/7 on: 0800 08 08 808 (toll-free)

Our experience guarantees prudence and empathy. Our knowledge of the legal requirements ensures the smooth implementation of the mourner's personal wishes.

The following documents are required for the issue of the death certificate:

Important DOCUMENTS
-identity card of the deceased
-Birth certificate of the deceased
-Death certificate/death certificate
-family record book, marriage / civil partnership certificate
-For divorced persons: Divorce decree with final judgment, extract from the family register

-For single persons or minors: Birth certificate, parents' identity card
-For widowed persons: Death certificate of the spouse
-Pension number/s
-Health card from the health insurance company
-Insurance policy, if applicable
-If applicable, existing funeral provision contract

DEATH CERTIFICATE
In the event of a death, a doctor must first be notified who will officially confirm the death and fill out the death certificate.
Only after the death certificate has been issued can the deceased be transferred to our funeral home.

INSURANCE
Since 2004, the statutory health insurance funds no longer pay death benefits, so we can only cancel the insurance. If there are other insurances that pay death benefits, we require the originals of the corresponding policies or membership books.

PENSIONS
If the deceased was already receiving a pension, we can apply for a transitional pension for the surviving spouse from the Postal Pension Accounting Office. To do this, we need the pension number on the pension certificate. As the surviving spouse, you must apply for the widow's pension from the pension provider yourself. If the deceased was unmarried, we will deregister the pension.

GRAVE CUSTOMS
If a grave already exists, we need the corresponding grave certificate.
